Volume Series

These reliefs primarily use a double weave technique where two warps are handwoven simultaneously. The pieces emerge from the loom three-dimensional, with the direction of the pleats hand manipulated into position.

The series represents transformation. Through the act of weaving and folding, the fabric is created from a kind of alchemy combining thread and time. The final surfaces contain the tension of dualities: of light and shadow, opening and closing, motion and stillness, precision and imperfection.
